What Twinly is
Twinly is a digital twin that lives on your Mac and acts as you. It writes the way you write, learns what you prefer, and does real work, sends a text, books a table, clears the inbox, while you stay in control. Power it with your own AI provider key from Anthropic, OpenAI, Azure, Gemini, Grok, or a custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint.
01The idea in one paragraph
Most assistants live in a chat box and hand you links. Twinly does the task. It runs as a native Mac app, learns who you are over time, and operates your real tools, Messages, Mail, Calendar, the browser, native apps, and the phone, the same way you would. The twin drafts and plans freely; anything that actually leaves your machine (a send, a call, a purchase) waits for your one-tap approval first.
It is yours and private by design. Your messages, your voice, and your learned preferences stay on your Mac. The only thing that ever leaves is the request you send to the AI model that powers the twin, and you choose which model that is.
02What your twin can do
- Texts and iMessage the way you actually text, reading real threads for context (with your permission) so replies sound like you.
- Email through Gmail or Apple Mail: send, read your inbox, search, and get a calm heads-up when new mail lands.
- Calendar and reminders: reads your day, adds events, blocks focus time, sends leave-by nudges.
- Works your Mac: opens and drives apps, fills forms, arranges windows, finds files, captures web pages.
- Real phone calls in your voice: books the table, chases the package, negotiates a bill, all with outbound calls in your voice.
- Runs on a schedule: a morning brief, a Friday review, a daily reservation attempt that retires itself once it succeeds.
The Showcase tab inside the app ships with sixty fully built-out examples grouped into acts, so you can watch the twin run a real task end to end before pointing it at your own.
03Powering your twin
Twinly needs an AI model to think with. You bring your own provider key, from Anthropic, OpenAI, Azure, Gemini, Grok, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, and pay that provider directly for what you use. The key lives in your macOS Keychain and never leaves your Mac.
Best performance comes from GPT-5.4-mini and up (OpenAI / Azure) or Claude Opus 4.6 and up. Smaller tiers tend to hallucinate when driving your real apps.
The full walk-through is in Powering your twin. If you have not installed the app yet, start with Install & first launch.
04What stays yours
- Your message history, contacts, calendar, and files never leave your Mac, except the specific snippets the twin sends to your chosen model to reason about a task.
- Your voice clone is built and stored on-device by default (Apple Personal Voice and Twinly's own engine never upload your voice).
- Provider keys and the Gmail app password live in the macOS Keychain.
- Nothing risky happens without your approval. Drafts and plans are free; sends, calls, purchases, and deletes wait for your OK.
The full breakdown is in Privacy & security.
05How to read these docs
- Install & first launch gets the app open and running, about five minutes.
- Powering your twin connects the brain with your provider key.
- Permissions grants the twin the access it needs to act, with a one-click setup.
- The rest, Voice & calls, Email, and the deeper How Twinly executes and How Twinly remembers you pages, each stand alone. Read them when you want that capability.
