Install & first launch

• A Mac on macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon or Intel. Your own cloned voice (Twinly Voice) needs Apple silicon (M1 or newer). Or a PC on Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit).
• An internet connection (the twin talks to the AI engine over the network).
• A Twinly account. On a Mac you create it in the app on first launch by signing in with Google. The Free plan needs no card; plans are in Powering your twin.

Optional capabilities, like phone calls, the Gmail connector, @twinly in Messages, and the Chrome extension, each have their own page here and none of them block the first launch.

1. Download Twinly for Mac from twinly.tech. You get a standard .dmg disk image.
2. Open the disk image and drag Twinly into your Applications folder, the same as any Mac app.
3. Open Applications and double-click Twinly. The first time, macOS may ask you to confirm you want to open an app you downloaded; click Open.

1. Download Twinly for Windows from twinly.tech. You get a standard installer, Twinly-Setup.exe.
2. Run the installer. It puts Twinly in your apps and on the Start menu, no options to puzzle over.
3. Open Twinly from the Start menu. The same guided setup greets you on first launch.

Platform differences are the honest ones: on Windows, texting rides your linked messaging apps and Google Voice instead of iMessage, calendar and contacts use the Windows system stores, and keys live in Windows Credential Manager instead of the macOS Keychain.

The setup walks you through three things: sign in to power the twin, grant permissions, and, if you like, give it your voice. Permissions come on one screen with Set up all, and need at most one restart of the app.

You also get the Twinly island at the top of your screen. On a Mac it lives in the notch (Macs without a notch get one drawn into the menu bar). Hover it to open Home, with what is playing, your calendar and a mirror; drop files on its Shelf to AirDrop or share them; and use its Twinly tab to talk to your twin. Press Command + \ anywhere to message your twin. On Windows the island is a floating strip and the shortcut is Ctrl + \.

While the twin works, the island shows what it is doing in a compact strip; click it to see more, or to watch a website task live.

Skipped something during setup? Twinly's Access screen has Set everything up, which requests anything still missing and opens the right System Settings pane for each. And when a task needs a permission you have not granted yet, Twinly shows its own card explaining why before macOS asks.

The Showcase screen has a readiness panel with live checks (engine connected, voice ready, calling set up, screen access, accessibility, disk access) and a plain-English fix for anything missing. Every permission is explained in Permissions.
