# Twinly > Twinly is a desktop AI agent for macOS and Windows that operates your real applications (browser, email, calendar, files, messages, and phone) as you, under an approval mode the owner chooses. ## What it is - **Category**: desktop AI agent. It is software installed on the user's own computer, not a chat product, a browser extension, or a hosted agent running on a remote virtual machine. - **Platforms**: macOS 4.1.4 — Requires macOS 14 or later. Universal binary for Apple silicon and Intel; the on-device voice clone needs Apple silicon. Notarized and signed with an Apple Developer ID. Released 22 October 2026. Windows 1.1.0 — Requires Windows 10 or later, 64-bit. Published 31 July 2026. - **Pricing**: Free $0 (5 tasks a day), Starter $20/month (Higher daily and weekly limits), Pro $50/month (About 3x the Starter limits), Max $100/month (About 8x the Starter limits). Every plan runs on Twinly's managed engine, so no API key is required. Only grandfathered beta builds (2.1.3 and earlier) use the owner's own model key. The Developer API draws on the same plan. - **Made by**: Twinly, Inc. (founders@twinly.tech). ## How it works Many computer-use agents only see a screenshot and guess where to click. Twinly uses the most direct way into each application first: the operating system's own interfaces for calendar, reminders, contacts, mail, and messages; an application's scripting interface; a connected app's own tools; and on websites, the page's own elements, so it fills fields by their labels and clicks by the words on buttons. It still looks at a screenshot after every step to see what actually happened, and works the screen with a real mouse and keyboard when an application offers nothing better. The channel ladder, highest fidelity first: 1. **System interfaces** — Calendar, Reminders, Contacts, Mail, Messages, and PDFs through the operating system's own frameworks. 2. **App scripting** — An application's own scripting interface, driven with Apple Events on a Mac. 3. **Connectors** — A connected app's own tools over the Model Context Protocol, after the owner signs in. 4. **Web page elements** — A page's live controls: fields filled by their labels, buttons clicked by their words, each form read back after a change. 5. **The screen** — The window's accessibility controls and text, with real mouse and keyboard input, when nothing above fits. ## What it can do - **Browser automation**: Drives real web applications through the page's own structure: fills forms by their labels, picks dates and dropdown options, and clicks by the words on buttons. Public sites run in Twinly's own background browser; the owner's accounts run in the owner's signed-in Chrome through the optional Twinly Browser Control extension. - **Messages**: Sends and reads iMessages from the owner's own number on a Mac. With @twinly turned on, anyone in a conversation can text @twinly and Twinly answers in that chat; the owner's own requests can do real work, such as making a picture, a voice note, a split bill, a group vote, or a calendar invite. - **Email**: Sends, reads, and searches Gmail through a Google App Password, with Apple Mail as the fallback. - **Calendar**: Reads the calendar, creates and moves events. - **Files**: Finds, reads, writes, and organises files on the machine. - **Native applications**: Operates native macOS applications through the accessibility tree and each application's own scripting interface. - **Phone calls**: Places real outbound phone calls and speaks in a clone of the owner's voice, then reports what was said. Calls follow the owner's approval mode. Calling requires Google Voice in Chrome and the free BlackHole audio driver to be set up first. Answering incoming calls is not available yet. - **Connectors**: Signs in to apps such as Notion, Linear, GitHub, Stripe, and HubSpot over the Model Context Protocol and uses their own tools directly. - **Developer API**: A REST API (OpenAPI 3.1 at /openapi.yaml) that lets the owner's own code chat with Twinly's model, get computer-use actions, make images, and, through the owner's running Mac, send and read iMessages, place calls, speak in the owner's voice, and run full tasks. Voice: Twinly Voice: your own voice, cloned on your own Mac by an on-device engine. Requires Apple silicon. It is the only voice; no third-party voice service is used. ## Safety model - **Approval modes**: The owner chooses how much Twinly asks: Ask me every time (every action that changes anything waits), Ask before it ships (anything that leaves the machine waits), or Don't ask, the default, where Twinly sends, spends, and deletes on its own and shows each text or email for 5 seconds before it goes so it can be stopped. In every mode, Twinly's questions, messages to family, and payments over the owner's spending limit wait for approval. - **Undo and resume**: Calendar events, reminders, and file changes Twinly makes can be undone for 30 minutes; sent messages, calls, and payments cannot, and the app says so. A task that stops partway can be picked up where it stopped without sending anything twice. - **Tamper-evident audit log**: Tool calls are written to a local audit log in which each entry carries a SHA-256 hash of the entry before it, so editing or removing a past entry breaks the chain and is detectable. The log keeps the most recent 1,000 entries. - **Credential refusal**: Twinly refuses to type Social Security numbers, passwords, and card numbers into any field, on any surface. It stages the rest of a form and asks the owner to enter that one value. - **@twinly guests**: When someone other than the owner texts @twinly in a shared conversation, they get a short reply that never shares anything private about the owner, or a picture if the owner allows it. Only the owner's own requests make Twinly act. ## What it is not - Not a chatbot or a browser extension. It is a native desktop application that operates the applications already installed on the machine. - Not a cloud agent running on someone else's virtual machine. It works on the owner's computer, with the owner's existing logged-in sessions. - Not unchecked. By default it acts without asking, but each text or email it sends shows for 5 seconds first, messages to family and payments over the owner's limit always wait, and every action is recorded. The owner can switch to asking before every action. - Not a replacement for a screen reader or an accessibility tool. - Not able to drive text-free 3D or WebGL canvases, such as CAD viewports, where no structured channel and no readable text exist. ## Pages - [Home](https://www.twinly.tech/): what Twinly is, what it does, and pricing - [Desktop AI agent](https://www.twinly.tech/solutions/desktop-ai-agent): Twinly is a desktop AI agent that operates the applications already installed on your Mac or PC (browser, email, calendar, files, messages, and phone) and lets you choose how much it asks before it acts. - [Automate browser busywork](https://www.twinly.tech/solutions/automate-browser-busywork): Twinly automates repetitive browser work — forms, portals, returns, data entry — by working the page's own elements, filling fields by their labels and clicking by the words on buttons. In the asking modes it stops at every send, pay, or submit. - [Email that sounds like you](https://www.twinly.tech/solutions/email-inbox-clone): Twinly reads, searches, and drafts Gmail in your own writing style, clears the noise, and shows every email it sends for 5 seconds first, or holds each one for your approval if you prefer. - [Phone calls in your voice](https://www.twinly.tech/solutions/ai-phone-calls): Twinly places real outbound phone calls and speaks in a clone of your voice (booking, rescheduling, chasing a refund) and tells you what was said. - [What an AI clone is](https://www.twinly.tech/solutions/ai-clone): An AI clone is software that learns how a specific person writes, decides, and prefers things handled, then does real work as them. Twinly is an AI clone for macOS and Windows where you choose how much it asks before it acts. - [How computer-use agents differ](https://www.twinly.tech/compare/computer-use-agents): Computer-use agents split into two designs: those that drive the screen by screenshot, and those that drive the machine channels underneath it. A factual comparison of the trade-offs. ## Documentation - [Docs overview](https://www.twinly.tech/docs): every setup guide in one place - [What Twinly is](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/welcome): Twinly is a clone of you that lives on your Mac or Windows PC: it texts, emails, manages your calendar, works your websites and apps, and holds real phone calls in your voice. You choose how much it asks first. The AI engine is included: start free with 5 tasks a day. - [Install & first launch](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/install): Download Twinly for Mac or Windows, open it, and let the first-launch setup sign you in and grant every permission on one screen. No terminal, no developer tools, about five minutes. - [Powering your twin](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/powering): Sign in and run on Twinly's managed engine: start free with 5 tasks a day, and plans from $20 a month raise the daily and weekly limits. The Developer API uses the same plan. Older beta builds bring their own provider key. - [Permissions](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/permissions): Every macOS permission Twinly asks for and why, in plain English, with exact System Settings paths. Grant them all on one screen at first launch, or with Set everything up on the Access screen. - [Approvals and control](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/approvals): Choose how much Twinly asks before it acts: every time, only before anything leaves your Mac, or not at all (the default, with a 5-second preview of each text and email). What always waits, undo, picking up a stopped task, and how to stop it. - [Messages and @twinly](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/messages): Text as you from Messages on a Mac, and text @twinly in any conversation, from your phone too, to get things done there: pictures, voice notes in your voice, a split bill, a group vote, a calendar invite. Who can use it and what it may say. - [Websites and apps](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/web-and-apps): How Twinly works websites, in its own background browser or your signed-in Chrome, how it drives your other Mac apps on screen, how to watch it live, and what it will not do. - [Voice & calls](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/voice-and-calls): Clone your own voice on your Mac with Twinly Voice, set up Google Voice in Chrome and the free BlackHole driver once, and let your twin hold real phone calls as you. - [Email (Gmail)](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/email): Connect Gmail with a Google App Password (2-Step Verification required) so your twin can send, read, search, and stay aware of new mail. What it unlocks, how to set it up, and what stays private. - [Connectors](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/connectors): Sign in to apps like Notion, Linear, GitHub, Stripe or HubSpot once, and your twin uses their own tools directly instead of clicking around their websites. The 26 apps, how sign-in works, and what waits for your OK. - [Developer API](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/developer-api): Your Twinly as an API: OpenAI-compatible chat, computer-use actions and image generation from Twinly's servers, plus iMessages, phone calls in your voice, voice notes and full tasks run by your own Mac. Keys, every endpoint, jobs, webhooks, bots, pricing, errors, and the OpenAPI spec. - [For AI agents](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/agents): Machine-readable entry points for assistants and coding agents reading about Twinly: llms.txt, the full docs as one markdown file, every page as markdown, and the Developer API's OpenAPI spec, plus the rules an agent integrating Twinly should follow. - [How Twinly executes](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/how-it-executes): Why Twinly is reliable and cheap to run: it tries fast, certain layers first (recipes, learned pathways, an app's own interfaces), checks that committing actions really happened, and only spends an AI run on the genuinely new. - [How Twinly remembers you](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/memory): Twinly's permanent memory, learned pathways, anticipation, and failure memory, explained for a user: what it learns, that it never forgets, how you stay in control, and how to reset it. - [Privacy & security](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/privacy): What stays on your device, what leaves and why, the rules Twinly follows in every approval mode, and how to stop the twin instantly. The trust model in plain terms. - [Troubleshooting](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/troubleshooting): Fixes for the common snags: a permission that needs re-toggling, a robotic voice, a website task that fails, a silent call, Gmail that won't connect, and @twinly that doesn't answer. ## For agents and developers - [Developer API](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/developer-api): REST API for chat, computer-use actions, images, iMessages, calls, voice, and tasks - [OpenAPI 3.1 spec](https://www.twinly.tech/openapi.yaml): every Developer API route, request, response, and error - [Starter projects](https://github.com/OjasMishra32/twinly-api-examples): six MIT-licensed projects with tests and a mock API - [For AI agents](https://www.twinly.tech/docs/agents): machine-readable files and the rules for integrating - Every docs page as markdown: https://www.twinly.tech/docs/.md, for example https://www.twinly.tech/docs/approvals.md ## Optional - [Full documentation as one file](https://www.twinly.tech/llms-full.txt): every docs page concatenated as markdown - [Terms of Service](https://www.twinly.tech/terms) - [Privacy Policy](https://www.twinly.tech/privacy) - [Security](https://www.twinly.tech/security)
